The University was founded in August, 1933. During the years of its existence this educational institution became a real cradle of aviation specialists having trained thousands of experts, which work in Ukraine and almost 90 countries of the world. Among them there are renowned scientists, industry organizers, military and state figures. They head the air companies, factories, design bureaus, educational institutions, organizations and services within different departments. Powerful scientific schools in the fields of diagnostic systems, aero - space systems and technologies, management, mechanics, electron-ics, electrical engineering, materials science, computer science and computer facilities have been created at the university. Taking into account a nation-wide and international recognition of the University achievements as well as its great contribution to the development of national higher education and sciences the University was awarded the status of National higher educational institution by the Decree of the President of Ukraine in September, 2000. About 25 thousand students study at the University. The educational process is carried out by the highly skilled scientific and pedagogical team. The University includes nine institutes: Advanced Technologies Institute, Technology System institute, Industrial Design institute, Transient Processes Technology institute, Information & Diagnostic Systems Institute, External & Distance Training Institute, Management & Information Technologies Institute, Continuing Training Institute; eleven faculties: Aero - Space Faculty, Airport Design Faculty, Electronics & Telecommunications Faculty, Computer Science Faculty, Linguistics & Sociology Faculty, Management Faculty, Control Systems Faculty, Law Faculty, Military Training Faculty, Preparatory Faculty; three colleges, Aero - Space Lyceum, European regional ICAO Training Centers (ICAO). |
